So this is what he's been sitting on, huh?

Eblar ...

Frig, how many years has that been now? A whole lot, that's for sure. And if you'd asked me a month ago, I'd have said that I'd just as well never go back. It was hard work down there.

... but there was good stuff, too, and ... I don't know. It might be nice, I guess, feeling useful again. Bringing Mom and Dad home some actual money. Corrina was always so proud of her big brother working in the big city. Maybe ...

I don't know.

[Filter: Mom]

Uh, hey Mom!
anywaythewind: (and see)
[Filter: Private]

Ugh, shit.

[Filter: Mom]

Oh, Dragons, Mom, I am really, really sorry. He didn't mean anything by it, he didn't know, I mean, it's been years since I've seen him last and I'd always talked about Corrina and it just hadn't come up in the last few days and --

Are you okay? I'm so sorry. He feels awful.
anywaythewind: (is this the real life)
Whoa, holy frig!!

Hey, uh, Mom! Remember ... when I used to go down to Eblar and find work in the wintertimes?
anywaythewind: (is this just fantasy)
[Filter: Private]

It's always hardest on these days.

Hard not to see her smiling and clapping her hands in every corner. Cori loved the festival like most people can only dream of, and ... it's just hard to have it without her.

But if I show it, how much I miss her, Mom's going to fall into it, too. So I've got to keep smiling.

Hey, that's what Corrina would want, too.

... Dragons, I miss her so bad, somedays.

[Filter: Public]

I am about to sit down a truly awesome smelling Festival dinner, and let me tell you, I can't wait to put it in my mouth.

Also I got a bunch of awesome presents and basically this is the best day of the entire year.

Hey, what's everybody's favourite part of Festival dinner? I think I'm all about the potatoes. Smothered in crazy and butter. Frig, I want to eat right now.
anywaythewind: (is this the real life)
I'm starting to think that naming Cream Cream was a really bad idea, because now it just seems appropriate to feed her all sorts of cream whenever I feed her, and she's already twice the size of Peaches.

I'm seeing this becoming an issue when she has to roll down the stairs, I don't know!
anywaythewind: (look up to the skies)
[Filter: Lila and Allison]

Dragons, you two. Just how long are you going to be down there?

Sorry. I just -- I thought it would be a pretty quick thing, but all the talk in Lireth today is about how Lady Felicia's going to have another baby in a month and how everyone is hoping it'll be a boy and I'm thinking ... she got pregnant at Lady Isanae wedding, right? And then Lord Hasten took Allison and went South. That was so long ago that she's going to give birth?

We miss you at home. Mom won't say it, Lila, but it's really killing her, how long it's been since she's seen you. After Corrina ... And Allison, your mother is having a hard time of it, too. You know how your brothers and sisters are, they never write, never visit. They always were distant, and you were the only one Aunt Juniper could count on.

... I'm not trying to make you guys feel awful, but come on. You're killing us, here. I know it's not your call and it's all in Lord Hasten's hands, but can't you do antyhing?
anywaythewind: (cause it's easy come easy go)
All right! Our double kitties have names!

We finally found something that we agreed on! Mostly thanks to that one suggestion we got from someone here, I forget who it was. Sorry! Anyways ...

Peaches and Cream, everybody!
anywaythewind: (is this the real life)
Alright, so I told Lila that I would tell this awesome story!

So everybody here knows about the kitten by now, right? Refresher for those who didn't read! We have mice. And our barn cats are jerks. So I sort of stole a kitten from one of them and then didn't know what to do with it cause I thought my Mom was going to flip out. And I hid it in my room for a while. That's the part everybody knows.

Okay, so here's the part that's new!

So Mom comes back from Lireth from getting food and some building supplies to at least patch holes in the pantry. And she's like hey Robin! Come help me unload this stuff, your Dad's leg is bugging him again! (Cause he took that bad fall last ... uh, year. Sometime. I think.) So I go out to do that, and she has ...

Another kitten!

What??

Yeah, how about that! She had the exact same idea and went about bought a city kitten in town. Isn't that crazy? Who pays money for a cat when you have cats in your barn! She says that she didn't want her cat to have anything to do with the barn cats ... but it sort of backfired thanks to me. And now we have two kittens.

The end.

Okay, that story was better in real life but I still think it's pretty great.

Anyways, they're both girls and Mom and I are fighting over what to name them.

[Filtered from Mom]

Okay, uhhh, send help!

One of the barn cats actually had kittens a few weeks ago! I was out there looking in the stalls and stuff and when I realized that, I rememebered what one of you, I forget who sorry! said about the cats being good to get rid of the mice and hey that seemed better than the traps ... for some reason ... I don't know.

I just acted!

I grabbed one of the kittens and took it to my room! And now I don't know if I made a big mistake because it looks big enough but I don't know what to feed it or anything or what to do with it and I really don't want to let Mom see it until I have it ... you know, used to people. Our barn cats are jerks. And this one has to be cuddly and nice if I'm going to let it eat mice right in my house. And until I get it there, Mom isn't going to be impressed ...

Uhhh, so if anybody has tips on how to fix what an idiot I am they'd be totally appreciated! So ... yeah! Send me your cat tips! Thanks!
anywaythewind: (is this the real life)
So, like, we put out some traps to see if there were any mice in the house, and like, I'm torn here.

On the one hand, mice are pretty cute. They have those little ears and whiskers, and they make cute noises, and Cori used to flip out whenever we tried to kill them. So there's that.

But on the other hand, there are apparently so many mice in our house that it's actually totally gross. Like, they're everywhere. And there are so many.

I really don't know what to think.
anywaythewind: (caught in a landslide)
The coming of spring is great!

I know everyone has been writing about spring all the time lately and I'm sure that the word "spring" just made like 10 people roll their eyes and sigh. But bear with me here! Mine is different. I'm not going to talk about birds singing or baby animals or the first flowers or any of that.

I'm going to talk about slush.

I love slush! It's like snow but wetter and it's warmer out when you play with it and it packs well and it makes totally awesome forts! Everyone is always like "but don't you get wet?" and I'm like "yeah, isn't it great!?!" Because a little bit of water never hurt anybody.

So I've made this huge fort out of slush, and then there was this huge freeze over again today. So my fort went from a lopsided melty slush fort of being like a castle made of ice and it's basically the coolest thing ever.

That's all.

I told you mine was different.

Shame this is probably going to be the last freeze over of the year, because I sort of want to try making sculptures like this.

Is Dad feeling any better, today? He seemed it when he was out here earlier, but you know better than me ...

I didn't say anything to Lila about how sick he got, by the way. Or to Allison, actually. I know they'd just be worried and I'm tired of telling them stuff they should be worried about and can't do anything about.

It's hard enough to be worried when you can help ...
anywaythewind: (cause it's easy come easy go)
Oh, you guys will not believe this.

So, this month has been insane. It's been snowing all the time, and my dad got caught out in a storm weeks ago. And my mom got sick. So she and I are all snowed in here at the house -- like, seriously, we'd need to climb to get out the front door! -- and we're getting more and more and more worried and freaking out and trying not to freak out.

Mom finally starts getting better and she makes a nice meal for today for me for Rose Day, but Dad isn't here yet and we haven't heard a thing from him and we're still snowed in ...

So then!

Knock on the door!

Yeah, you see where this is going. Dad is there, sitting on the snowdrift by the door, and somehow he has a handful of wilted, frostbitten flowers in his hands to give to Mom.

He told us some big story about his grand adventure. It was pretty cool but I don't believe any of it. Still, I have no idea how he got here or where the flowers came from. Anyway, Mom is thrilled, though she's trying not to show it, and it's REALLY CUTE and I just thought everyone should know because it's a pretty cool Rose Day story.

(Seriously she's being so cute!)

Dammit, Mom, what did I tell you?! What are you doing up in the kitchen again? I told you, you need to stay in bed!

You're the worst patient ever!

Wow, it's really coming down out there. I can barely see that big tree out from. Do you think Dad's going to be able to get home? I'm starting to get worried, personally ...
anywaythewind: (cause it's easy come easy go)
Soooo Moooom!

It's another great day for fort making! We might have had to stop before we were done, last time, but that doesn't mean that our masterpiece should just lay there, fallow and unfinished! That's a tragic end for such an epic fort!

You know I'm right!

I should be happy!

I mean, geez, I don't even know what's going on in my stupid head. I miss her, yeah. I miss Lila, too, and C ... stuff being normal. Even almost normal. At least when they were doing knight stuff all the time, they were right in Lireth, instead of running around all across Dentoria. But stuff is so complicated now, it's probably better than we have even more time apart.

I just --

I miss her.

Circle!

It's not like I can do anything about it, anyways.

[Filter: Public]

All this talk about snow, I seriously consider it a sin that I haven't seen any yet. I don't need to get dumped with a foot, I just need enough to throw snowballs at people! Is that too much to ask?

This is supposed to be the benefit of living in the North, getting snow before anybody else.
anywaythewind: (Default)
[Filter: Mom]

Hey, Mom ... uhhhh do you have time to talk, for a bit? I've got something on my mind and you're sort of the only person I can really talk about it with! Stuff. Yeah. I can't go to Lila and I really can't go to Allison and Dad doesn't really get it and that sort of narrows it down, doesn't it?
anywaythewind: (Default)
[Filter: Mom]

Hey, you know, Mom ...

I've been thinking a lot, since the Night of the Dead, and I really think that what you did there was awesome. I know you've had a real hard time ... you know, dealing with all that. How far away she was, how it had been so long since we'd seen her, how they were with her and we weren't ... I'd be lying if I hadn't thought about it a time or two, myself.

But Cori really loved them, you know? Maybe ... we sort of owe it to her to put everything aside and really get to know them.

... I haven't really done a great job of that, myself, honestly.

Anyways.

I just thought it was a big step, and you deserved a pat on the back, I guess.

[Filter: Allison]

Soooooo.

The whole North is abuzz with the news that Lady Isanae and Lord Tarmon finally tied the knot, and Lady Isanae's now an Emeron girl. I guess that means her Lireth knights are sort of superfluous now, huh?

How about that coming back home?
anywaythewind: (Default)
Okay, Mom, I'll admit it. As much as I whined about having to keep working when Dad started again ... it is nice to have it all mostly done.

You can hardly tell what a disaster it was when we got back, anymore!

I was in town today, and man, everyone is talking about that wedding over in Emeron. I've sort of missed all the hype, I guess, from being back out in the country, but people are really excited about it all. Some merchants were selling these little flags with Lireth and Emeron colours together and stuff.

It's sort of cool that something that people care so much about it happening right here, right now! I mean, it's sure not a missing Princess getting found or anything, but it's something ...
